Activity report 2: Volunteer activity in the Tsuya-Osawa district (9.9.~9.10.2011)

Working under a clear midsummer sky the volunteers mowed grass on the demolished land. However some of the 13 volunteers got upset and asked: “Why are we doing this? Cutting down the grass won`t be a help for long. ” The reply of the residents was simple: ”Most of the homeowners come day by day to check on the condition of their houses. If they see the chaos they would lose hope and return their shelter disappointedly. But if they see their mowed housing site, it gives them the feeling of hope and that things getting back to normal. Therefore this work is very important.” Those words made the volunteers aware how important their work actually was.
