Konnichi wa! My name is Alisa and I will be doing an internship at NPO Groundwork Fukuoka from today to February. I am a 21 years old student from Germany. I have been studying Japanese and English studies at Heinrich-Heine University in Duesseldorf for 2 years now. In one years time I will hopefully get my Bachelor degree.
I have always been fond of foreign languages and cultures but especially Japan has always caught my eye. My interest in Japan started with Anime , Manga and games as a child but soon my interest for the language and culture itself started to grow. I started learning Japanese when I was 17, but since school was more important and needed more time, I had to quit after one year. I wanted to go on learning japanese though and maybe work in a branch that has to do with Japan in the future and so I decided to study Japanese studies at University. I am in fifth semester now and it’s finally time for me to spend some time in Japan.
Unfortunately we could never afford to visit Japan before, so it’s my first time here . So far, I’m really loving it. Fukuoka is a beautiful city, the people here are always so nice and the food is delicious. Fukuoka is also a pretty green City and to preserve this much nature that surrounds this city is the goal of Groundwork Fukuoka. Together with Groundwork Fukuoka I will help to protect nature and support disabled people. I am really looking forward to do such an honorable work and to gain experience and language skills at the same time!
